Why Lambeau Field
This is the 13th Shamrock Series game, Notre Dame’s annual home game played somewhere other than South Bend. The Irish are 12 and 0 in them since 2009. Lambeau has hosted only two college football games in its history, and Curly Lambeau, who founded the Packers, played at Notre Dame in 1918, which is the connection the school used to justify taking a home game into Wisconsin’s home state. The game was originally scheduled for 2020 and canceled by the pandemic.
Series History
The last meeting was a Shamrock Series game too: Notre Dame won 41 to 13 at Soldier Field in Chicago in 2021. Wisconsin is the only opponent to get a second Shamrock Series appearance, and the Badgers beat LSU at Lambeau in 2016, the last college football game played there.

Prediction
Notre Dame 34, Wisconsin 13. Twenty and a half is a lot to give in a season opener, and Wisconsin’s defense should keep it respectable into the second quarter, but the talent gap is real and Notre Dame has had an extra week of preparation while everyone else played. Take the Irish comfortably; the cover is the closer call.
