Lambeau Field Is the Point
College football at Lambeau is the draw. Notre Dame’s Shamrock Series moves one home game a year to a neutral venue — NFL stadiums, usually — with alternate uniforms and a week of surrounding events.
The wrinkle here is geography. Lambeau is in Wisconsin, about two hours from Madison. It is billed as neutral; the crowd will not be.
Why Sunday
Labor Day weekend gives the sport an extra two days, and networks use them. Sunday night is normally NFL territory, but with the NFL season not yet started, NBC gets a clear primetime window for college football.
It is the same reason SMU at Florida State lands on Monday.
Notre Dame’s Independence
As an independent, Notre Dame builds its own schedule and its own television arrangement — every home game airs on NBC under a deal that has run since 1991. That is why a Notre Dame neutral-site game is automatically a network primetime property.
How to Watch Free
NBC carries it nationally and is free over the air with an antenna. Peacock streams all NBC games, so a Peacock subscription alone is sufficient — no cable required.
Louisville vs. Ole Miss starts at the same time on ABC from Nashville.
The Bottom Line
Wisconsin vs. Notre Dame kicks off 7:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, September 6 at Lambeau Field, live on NBC and Peacock. It is a Shamrock Series game, nominally neutral but played two hours from Wisconsin’s campus.
