Every NFL team must cut from 90 players to 53 by 6 PM ET on Sunday, August 30, 2026 — roughly 1,180 releases in a single day — and this page tracks all of them, team by team. Cuts begin trickling out in the days before the deadline and flood in Sunday afternoon; we’ll update each team’s list below as moves become official, through the deadline and the waiver-claim fallout Monday.
A quick key for reading the wire: players with fewer than four accrued seasons are waived (they hit the waiver wire, claimable by all 31 other teams Monday at 1 PM ET); vested veterans with four-plus seasons are released (immediate free agents). Injured players can’t simply be cut — look for injured reserve moves and injury settlements mixed into every team’s list.

Biggest Names on the Market
Most of the roughly 1,180 players released Sunday were camp bodies and undrafted rookies. These are the ones with real NFL résumés who are suddenly available — the pool other teams will pick from on Monday’s waiver wire and in free agency.
| Player | Pos | Released by | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Will Levis | QB | Titans | The most recognizable name cut all weekend. No. 33 overall in 2023, 21 career starts, stuck behind Cam Ward and Mitch Trubisky. |
| Mazi Smith | DT | Jets | No. 26 overall in 2023; fifth-year option already declined |
| Jedrick Wills | OT | Bears | Former top-10 pick and multi-year starting left tackle |
| Jack Pyburn | EDGE | Buccaneers | CLAIMED by Kansas City. Led the NFL with four preseason sacks; the claim ends his planned LSU return |
| Mecole Hardman | WR | Bills | Two-time Super Bowl winner and proven returner |
| Elandon Roberts | LB | Steelers | Decade-long starter; immediate depth for a contender |
| Emmanuel Ogbah | DE | Chiefs | Established pass rusher off a Super Bowl roster |
| Kaiir Elam | CB | Chiefs | Former first-round corner, still on his rookie timeline |
| Jamin Davis | LB | Steelers | Another former first-rounder available |
| Taylor Rapp | S | Broncos | Veteran starting safety, a surprise on this list |
| Cedric Tillman | WR | Browns | Recent draft pick with starting experience |
| J.T. Gray | S | Eagles | One of the league’s best special-teams players |
| Mitch Wishnowsky | P | Bills | Long-time starting punter — specialists rarely hit the market |
| Denzel Mims | WR | Cowboys | Former second-round pick still looking for a landing spot |
| Isaiah Hodgins | WR | Giants | Productive starter as recently as two seasons ago |
| Kyle Trask | QB | Panthers | One of several backup quarterbacks freed up Sunday |
| Jake Browning | QB | Buccaneers | Has won NFL starts; likely to be claimed |
| Nick Mullens | QB | Jaguars | Cut after Jacksonville acquired Quinn Ewers from Miami |
| Jaydon Blue | RB | Cowboys | A 2025 fifth-round pick with 4.38 speed — an obvious change-of-pace claim for someone |
| K.J. Osborn | WR | Titans | Former Vikings No. 3 receiver, squeezed out of a rebuilt Tennessee room |
| Anthony Hankerson | RB | Seahawks | A named plaintiff in the NFL-to-college eligibility lawsuit |
Players with fewer than four accrued seasons go through waivers Monday at 1 p.m. ET; vested veterans are free agents immediately and can sign anywhere tonight. That distinction decides who gets a choice of destination and who does not — our waivers explainer covers it.
How to Read Cut Weekend
The names that matter most are rarely the famous ones. Watch for: veterans released a day early (a courtesy so they can shop teams before the flood), surprise cuts at deep positions (a team with six good receivers must expose one), and drafted rookies from a year ago being waived (an admission the pick missed). The claim wire Monday tells you which teams’ scouting departments were paying attention — and every player who clears waivers becomes practice-squad eligible, which is where about a third of these names resurface by Wednesday.
