Three of the four Wild Card Series ended in sweeps on Wednesday, Sept. 30. The Yankees beat the Red Sox 9 to 2, the White Sox beat the Astros 7 to 3 and the Padres beat the Cubs 4 to 1, sending all three to the Division Series starting Saturday. The Phillies kept their season alive with a 4 to 3 win in 10 innings at Truist Park on an Alec Bohm homer, so Phillies at Braves is the only Wild Card Series going to Game 3, Thursday, Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.

How Game 2 Went
In Atlanta the Phillies led 1 to 0 on a Bryce Harper single in the first, fell behind 3 to 1 on a seventh inning rally, then tied it on back to back eighth inning homers from Kyle Schwarber and Harper before Bohm’s solo shot in the 10th. In Houston the White Sox scored four in the first, answered three solo Astros homers, Jeremy Peña and Jose Altuve among them, with a three run Chase Meidroth homer in the sixth and never trailed. In the Bronx the Yankees broke a 2 to 1 game open with a six run sixth, Cody Bellinger’s three run homer the big blow, after a Game 1 shutout. In San Diego the Padres scored two in the second and two in the fourth, Gavin Sheets’ two run homer the difference, and the Cubs managed five hits.
