What to Watch
Milwaukee has owned the best record in baseball for much of the second half, and that matters beyond the division. The top two records in the National League earn first round byes, and the Brewers have been holding the number one seed.
Chicago is not realistically chasing the division but the Cubs have been secure in the wild card field. Their remaining games are about seeding, specifically whether they can reach the top wild card and host all three games of a first round series.
St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are out of contention.
