Cody Bradford is 0-4 and Kade Anderson is 0-1, which makes this the thinnest starting matchup on the Wednesday board on paper. Anderson is the more interesting name of the two, a young left hander Seattle has been working into the rotation late in a lost season.
Texas hung 10 on the Mariners on Tuesday behind Cal Quantrill, who moved to 8-5. Bryce Miller took the loss.
What It Means for the Race
Texas at 72-73 is still technically alive, two games behind Houston in the AL West and a game and a half out of the last wild card spot. That is close enough that a series win here matters.
Seattle at 67-78 is seven back in the division and effectively finished. The Mariners have scored 574 runs, the fewest in the American League, and that has been the problem all year.
